The Future Standard
Accelerating enhanced lives on a protected planet
To safeguard our collective future, the technologies of tomorrow must achieve the seamless balance of human advancement and the protection of our planet.
Our Future Standard approach seeks to reach this goal quicker. Through the adoption of cutting-edge materials science, responsible design, and a European first methodology we will show a better way forward.
The Carbon 1 MK II is an example of the Future Standard approach brought to life. The miniaturized smartphone of the future, made possible with revolutionary carbon fiber technology.Discover carbon 1
The form of the smartphone has hardly changed in 5 years. Produced from plastics and metals, they are bulky, boring, and hard to recycle.
The miniaturized tech of tomorrow is super slim, lightweight and built with sustainability in mind.
Inspired by Formula 1 technology, our designers believe the future is the adoption of monocoque design. Unlike a regular smartphone, a monocoque required no bulky internal frame and all components fit in one robust exo-skeleton, hidden only by the screen on top.
Thanks to Carbon's enabling HyRECM Technology, the world's first carbon fiber monocoque body was applied in the Carbon 1 MK II. The result is a dramatic reduction in size and weight. The first carbon fiber monocoque smartphone is 33% lighter and 25% thinner than the average competitor.
Monocoque products are easy to repair, ensuring a longer lifespan of the device. At end of life, the carbon fiber body is easily broken down and unlike plastics and glass bodies, retains its high initial value.
A 33% decrease in weight also represents a significant reduction in carbon emissions during delivery.
Carbon fiber is today's wonder material. In industries such as aerospace and motorsport, its radical properties have propelled innovation to the forefront of technological advancement. The incredibly high strength to weight ratio enables the lighter, thinner and more energy efficient solutions of tomorrow yet the mobile industry has ignored its potential.
Despite its advanced properties for creating robust yet lightweight structures, carbon fiber is also an electromagnetic conductor.
This means that it will block radio signals and prohibit its use in connected technologies.
After years of intense research and development, Carbon Mobile developed HyRECM Technology.
HyRECM = Hybrid Radio Enabled Composite Material.
This revolutionary process forges carbon fibers with a complementary composite material with signal allowing properties. The result is a carbon-fiber based monocoque structure that is incredibly thin, light and completely connected.
Revolutionary material engineering unlocking the incredible potential of carbon fiber in connected devices.
Radical engineering to unlock the incredible potential of carbon fiber in connected devices for the first time.
Through intense research into the application of advanced materials science, we're able to innovate where the establishment can't or won't.
These new discoveries are driving the thinner, lighter, stronger, and more sustainable tech of tomorrow.
The tech industry needs to take action to instil postive changes that ensures favourable working conditions and protects the planet for future generations.
The European First Approach
At Carbon Mobile we are committed to delivering the European response to a tech sector dominated by Asia and the US. Germany has long been home to some of the world's leading manufacturing brands, known for their quality engineering, high-performance and liberal ideals.
By creating products in Germany, we will deliver fair working practices at our factories and every customer can be sure of the origin of their device.
Production in this way will also drive forward sustainability by reducing emissions in delivery as we cater to our core European market.
German manufacturing is expected to start in Q4 2021.
Carbon Mobile dream, engineer and will soon build its products here in Germany.
The need for greener practices, the rise of automation, fairer working conditions, and fresh design thinking all point to a monumental shift back to the origin of modern industry. The future of tech is Europe.
Today, the electronics industry generates 50m tons of e-waste every year. 80% isn't recycled. It's not good enough.
Greener tech shouldn't be a choice. It should come as standard. Our Future Standard approach to responsible design focuses on:
of the unrecyclable materials that damage our world
from Fairtrade sources to ensure favorable working conditions
built into our products for enhanced lifetimes.
